Basin Lab

THE DOCUMENTARY WAJIÍN JUBARESISTANCE IN THE GUERRERO MOUNTAIN
(MEXICO, 2018 / 42 min)

DIRECTED BY LAURA CHAMBERS AND NICHOLAS TAPIA, WILL BE SHOWN BEFORE EACH PANEL.

This section, which, as a common thread, develops from the #Cuenca Basin that flows through eight states of the Republic, has arrived in Tepoztlán to stay. On this occasion, four feature films and six short documentaries, show us the faces of the incessant cultural shock that we live in our daily lives, in which the identity does not loose its sense of belonging, as it does not stop being a great contribution to our multicultural wealth.

At #CinemaPlaneta, we believe that the national audiovisual production focused on environmental issues is of vital importance. Videos and films are invaluable tools as means of dissemination and denunciation of environmental problems that affect our communities.

Cuenca Lab is a platform for training and development of documentary film projects, belonging to the Balsas River Basin region, which aims to promote audiovisual projects at an early stage of development and professionalize filmmakers and science disseminators from different basin regions.

This year we will present three panels on mining in which filmmakers, scientists and various social actors will participate and which will focus on the documentary Júba Wajiín. Resistance in the Mountain of Guerrero, directed by Laura Salas and Nicolás Tapia and produced by La Sandía Digital, which will be screened every day before the panels.
